Daycare Challenge
You’re fresh out of college, ready to make a living. You remember all the fun you had as a kid, babysitting little ones for your neighbors. Welcome to the Daycare Challenge; read on if you’re willing to accept.
OBJECTIVES
Take care of three to seven toddlers per week in the time period you’ve chosen (see LEVELS)
Take care of yourself, making sure you don’t go mad, and pay your bills and grocery, etc.
Make sure the Social Worker doesn’t come and take the kids away!
GET STARTED
Create a Sim that will be the babysitter. There are no specifications on this Sim except that since you won’t be allowed to socialize much for fear of neglecting the babies, don’t choose Popularity or Romance as the babysitter’s aspiration.
Now create an adult female Sim–no specifications on her. Then create a toddler who will be her son or daughter. Repeat this step two more times–you should have three mothers and three toddlers.
Move the babysitter, the three mothers and the three toddlers to a RESIDENTIAL lot. You are allowed to use the “motherlode” cheat to give the babysitter no more than $300,000. This is the “money from the city” that you will use to build your daycare.
DAYCARE BUILDING
The Daycare doesn’t need to be too fancy. All you need are four rooms: one that is the babysitter’s bedroom, one that is a bathroom, one large one that will store all the babies, and one large area for the kitchen appliances, dining area and perhaps a TV or computer for the babysitter’s needs.
THE BABY ROOM
Remember, you can have at least seven toddlers to take care of. Each toddler needs his/her OWN crib and potty-trainer. This is very important. So make sure you’ve gotten these necessities down before you buy things for the babysitter. The baby room also needs toys and of course, a changing table. Do not forget to have a couple of highchairs somewhere in the Daycare to feed the toddlers.
RULES
No nannies can be hired, even if you can afford it.
No maids can be hired, even if you can afford it.
You may not have another Sim help out, besides the mother of the toddler.
You may not use any cheats to fulfill any of your or the childrens’ motives. (I.E. no “maxmotives” or “make all happy” cheats for anyone.)
You may not use any cheats to make money. (see PAYMENT)
The city requires you to have a telephone, burglar alarm and smoke alarm.
The babysitter is NOT to step outside of the house, unless the toddlers are playing outside, to pay the bills, to pick up the newspaper, or to invite in a client mother whose child is ALREADY in your care inside.
The babysitter can only socialize with people he/she chats with online or talks to on the phone.
A mother can only have ONE toddler in the Daycare.
And you MAY NOT CONTROL THE TODDLERS. EVER! Everything they need can be done by the babysitter!
MOTHER MOVE-OUT
Once the daycare is settled and the toddlers are enrolled, the mothers must move out together. If you don’t already know how to do this, click on the newspaper and click “Find Own Place”. When you’re asked who the mother will move out with, choose all remaining mothers on the lot.
Mothers are also the only people that can be let in to the daycare. But the babysitter cannot call them up and invite them over. You may only let them in if they’ve come to visit.
BESIDES MOVING IN AND OUT OF THE DAYCARE, ALL MOTHERS MUST REMAIN IN THE FAMILY BIN! You need to have them move in and move out with their children at the end of the challenge.
ADDING MORE TODDLERS
To add more toddlers, you must create a mother with a toddler and have them move in to the Daycare. Once the toddler is settled, the mother must move out. After your first three toddlers, additional toddlers must be moved in ONE AT A TIME. You may not use the “Ask To Move In” option, as that would be socializing.
PAYMENT
You are paid every time a toddler is added. It depends on how much it costs the mother to move in to the daycare. When they do move in, money is added to the funds; therefore you’re getting paid. You are advised to use your City-granted money for important things first. If you must have a pool or swingset for the toddlers, use your own income.
LEVELS
One Sim-Week = BEGINNER
Two Sim-Weeks = INTERMEDIATE
Three Sim-Weeks = ADVANCED
Another way to do it is to keep playing this challenge until you’ve successfully taken care of 10 Toddlers, and count the days it took you to accomplish this.
SUCCESSFUL RAISING
If you have managed to raise a toddler for at least ONE Sim-Week, you’re allowed to have the mother come and take her child for good. Do this by having the mother, who should be in the Family Bin, move in and back out with her child. At the time of pick-up, the toddler must be healthy, fed and in a good mood.
If you’re going for the goal of 10 Toddlers, you can have all the toddlers picked up one by one and put in a new batch.
MOTHERS VISITING
The mothers can only visit if they’ve arrived at the Daycare on their own. The babysitter cannot invite them over him/herself. The mothers are not allowed to clean up for you and they can only play with THEIR OWN TODDLER. Mothers can only stay for four hours, and then the babysitter must say goodbye politely.

Enjoy this challenge! I’ll be putting my daycare stories up soon, with a picture of the daycare so you can understand how it should function.
If you have any questions, comment below and I’ll answer ASAP.
Wow this is a really godd idea!! Did you just make that up? I cant wait!! I’ll have to try it sometime!
Thanks, Chloe! Yeah, I did make it up. I originally thought of a challenge that had a single mother and several kids, but thought this would be more fun.
This is fantastic Hiba! Unfortunatley I’d go a little crazy looking after so many toddlers (I always do, lol!). I cant believe you made it up, It really is awesome!
so how do i start the day care like how do i enroll them?do i just play with them and feed them im confused!
Victoria: Well, what you do is you make a mother and her son/daughter (as a toddler) in Create-A-Sim. You can make three “Moms With Toddlers” at a time. Then you move into the daycare and so does your assigned babysitter. Then, using the newspaper, you have one of the mothers use “Find Own Place” to move out with the rest of the mothers. They will leave their toddlers behind.
If you don’t already know this, I’ve abandoned the Daycare Challenge for now. I lost interest. But maybe I’ll start it up soon.
